Description

At North and Mystic, product design doesn’t stop at performance. It looks fast, feels intentional, and tells a story before it ever touches the water.

The Role in a Nutshell

At North and Mystic, product design doesn’t stop at performance. It looks fast, feels intentional, and tells a story before it ever touches the water.

As Senior Graphic Product Designer, you lead the visual identity of products across North Kiteboarding, North Foils, and Mystic (hardgoods and accessories, excluding apparel). From kites, wings, boards, foils, and bars to wetsuits, harnesses, protection gear, hardware, bags, and accessories, you define how our products look, feel, and show up in the world, season after season.

This is a purely creative, product-level design role. You will not be engineering constructions or solving structural problems. Instead, you will shape graphics, color systems, material expression, and visual storytelling, working closely with Technical Leads and Technical Designers who bring your ideas to life.

Sitting at the intersection of brand, category, and product, you translate brand vision and category strategy into bold, confident, and unmistakable product design across both North and Mystic.

Key Responsibilities

Product Visual Identity

  • Define and lead the seasonal visual direction across all product categories
  • Create and evolve graphic systems, design languages, and signature elements
  • Build inspiring seasonal frameworks including mood boards, themes, and visual narratives
  • Ensure every product feels current, performance-driven, and unmistakably on-brand

Color Architecture and Trend Translation

  • Own the annual color roadmap across brands and categories
  • Translate trend insights into timeless, high-performance color palettes
  • Balance innovation, brand recognition, and production feasibility
  • Ensure color harmony across products, components, and materials

Product Graphics and Execution

  • Design and oversee graphics for kites, wings, boards, foils, bars, hardware, wetsuits, harnesses, protection gear, bags, and accessories
  • Create everything from large-scale layouts to logos, trims, icons, labels, and micro-details
  • Deliver clear, factory-ready artwork that is clean, consistent, and production-smart
  • Adapt graphic systems to different shapes and constructions without losing impact

Technical Collaboration (Non-Engineering)

  • Work closely with Technical Leads and Technical Designers to understand materials, construction, and constraints
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, panel layouts, and material specifications
  • Adjust and refine visuals based on technical feedback
  • Push creative boundaries while staying realistic about production limitations

Collaboration and Creative Leadership

  • Partner with the Art Director to align product visuals with overall brand direction
  • Work closely with Category Directors to support hero products and commercial priorities
  • Act as the visual voice at product level
  • Mentor junior designers and raise the overall creative bar

Materials, Print, and Real-World Performance

  • Design with strong knowledge of print techniques and material behavior
  • Collaborate with factories and suppliers on sampling and visual testing
  • Solve challenges related to stretch, distortion, fading, durability, and wear
  • Review samples and pre-production runs to ensure visual quality on land and on the water

Who You Are

  • Five to seven or more years of experience in senior product graphic design, product design, or creative leadership roles
  • Exceptional product-focused visual design skills with a strong, recognizable aesthetic
  • Strong understanding of materials, construction, and manufacturing constraints
  • Fluent in translating technical input into clear, compelling visual outcomes
  • Confident collaborating with technical teams without needing to be an engineer
  • Detail-driven, brand-focused, and comfortable owning product-level decisions
  • Passion for action sports, water sports, outdoor culture, or performance products

Your Stakeholders

  • Internal: Art Director, Category Directors (Kite / Wing / Foil / Accessories), Chief Brand Officer, Technical Leads, Technical Designers, Product Managers, Marketing & Creative Teams
  • External: Factories, material suppliers, athletes, and riders

Location

This is a Dutch-based role, or the candidate must be willing to permanently relocate to the Netherlands. This is not a remote role.
